Patty Frontiera, Ph.D

Geospatial Data Scientist, Consultant, and Instructor

I am currently an independent consultant specializing in geospatial data engineering, spatial analysis, and web mapping projects. I was previously a geospatial data scientist, instructor and consultant with the UC Berkeley D-Lab, serving as interim Executive Director from May 2021 - June 2022. I was also the Co-Executive Director of the Berkeley Federal Statistical Research Data Center from 2019-2022. I specialize in working with public administrative and natural science data sets created by federal, state, and local agencies including US Census data, parcel data, street networks and addresses etc. I also enjoy the challenge of working with historical data sources. In addition to my research projects, I have developed and taught several introductory and intermediate GIS workshops and courses. I served as a lecturer in the UCB Data Science Undergraduate Education Program for which I developed an introductory geographic data science course in python (ESPM88a).
